DONATION POLICY
Women In Automotive® Foundation is committed to transparent, ethical, and donor-centered charitable giving practices.
PURPOSE
This Donation Policy establishes the guidelines and procedures governing charitable contributions made to Women In Automotive® Foundation (the “Foundation”). The Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing women across the automotive industry through scholarships, education partnerships, mentorship, leadership development, and workforce initiatives. This policy ensures that all donations are accepted, processed, and acknowledged in a manner consistent with applicable law, IRS regulations, and the Foundation’s mission and values.
ACCEPTANCE OF DONATIONS
The Foundation welcomes and accepts charitable contributions in the following forms: cash and check donations payable to “Women In Automotive® Foundation”; credit and debit card donations processed through a secure, PCI-DSS compliant third-party payment processor; online donations submitted through the Foundation’s official website; corporate and organizational donations (contact nonprofit@womeninautomotive.org to discuss recognition and disclosure requirements); and recurring monthly contributions through the Foundation’s online donation platform, which may be cancelled at any time by contacting the Foundation in writing.
The Foundation reserves the right to decline any donation that it determines, in its sole discretion, to be inconsistent with its mission, values, or legal obligations.
VOLUNTARY NATURE OF CONTRIBUTIONS
All contributions to Women In Automotive® Foundation are entirely voluntary. No donor is required to make a contribution as a condition of membership, participation, attendance, or any other benefit offered by the Foundation or Women In Automotive®.
NO GOODS OR SERVICES IN EXCHANGE
No goods or services are provided to donors in exchange for charitable contributions unless explicitly stated in writing at the time the donation is solicited or received. In the event that any goods or services of more than nominal value are provided in connection with a donation, the Foundation will provide a written disclosure to the donor identifying the fair market value of those goods or services, and the donor’s tax-deductible contribution will be limited to the amount that exceeds the fair market value of the goods or services received.
TAX DEDUCTIBILITY
Women In Automotive® Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) public charity under the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law under IRC Section 170. The Foundation’s tax-exempt status was granted by the IRS effective February 22, 2024 (EIN: 99-1803497). Donors are responsible for determining the deductibility of their contributions under applicable tax laws and are encouraged to consult a qualified tax advisor.
DONATION ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND RECEIPTS
The Foundation will provide written acknowledgment of all charitable contributions as required by IRS regulations. For donations of $250 or more, the Foundation will provide a contemporaneous written acknowledgment that includes the amount of the contribution, a description of any non-cash property donated, and a statement of whether any goods or services were provided in exchange. For donations under $250, donors may use their bank statement, credit card statement, or the Foundation’s email confirmation as documentation for tax purposes. Acknowledgments will be sent to the email or mailing address provided at the time of the contribution.
DONOR PRIVACY
The Foundation is committed to protecting the privacy of its donors. Donor information will not be sold, rented, or traded to third parties. For complete details, please refer to the Foundation’s Privacy Policy. Donors who wish to make an anonymous contribution should contact the Foundation prior to making their donation.
REFUND POLICY
Donations to the Foundation are generally non-refundable. In the event of a processing error, duplicate charge, or unauthorized transaction, donors should contact the Foundation within 30 days of the transaction at nonprofit@womeninautomotive.org. The Foundation will review refund requests on a case-by-case basis and will issue refunds where warranted.
RESTRICTED AND DESIGNATED GIFTS
Donors wishing to designate a contribution for a specific program, scholarship, or purpose should contact the Foundation at nonprofit@womeninautomotive.org prior to making their donation. The Foundation will make reasonable efforts to honor donor designations consistent with its mission and operational needs, and reserves the right to redirect designated gifts if the designated purpose becomes impractical or inconsistent with the Foundation’s mission.
